Media Focus

The media extensively covered Michael Jackson's funeral today. One could say this is not surprising because he was the world's greatest entertainer, according to some. This might be true, but still, one wonders if the "news" media could do a better job of staying true to its mission of providing comprehensive news that affect our communities, our nation, and our world. By this, I mean news about the current economic crisis, the renewal of the Cold War with Russia, the outbreak of violence involving the Uighurs in China, the continuing war in Afghanistan, and other news events that substantively shape our lives and affect our future.
