Working The Land

Doing things the old fashion way by hand takes a lot of time. I was leveling the backyard by using a hoe-type tool to peel off the top layer of grass, and then using a flat shovel to level the bare dirt. All of this took the entire day for a small piece of ground. Using machinery would have done the job in probably half an hour. But then again, working the soil with one's bare hands does bring us closer to the land, I think, and that is worth something.
