Writing History

I am reading a book on how writing began. Most people think writing began with hieroglyphics. But writing actually began with numbers, according to the author. From pictorial representations came our system of writing. This is an interesting thesis. It sounds logical and credible. It makes sense that humans counted using numbers and from there developed more complex writing systems.
